She was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Creole to Bernard Nunez and Laura Theriot. She was employed at Jeff’s Grocery as a cook and was a member of Our Lady of Assumpton Catholic Church. She is survived by her son, Ivan Barentine and wife Patty of Johnson Bayou; three daughters, Tina Bell of Lafayette, Larie Barentine of Breaux Bridge and Rachael Carusso of Youngsville; one brother, John Nunez of Iowa; three sisters, Juanita Savoie of Dry Creek and Sissy Childers and Elaine Daigle, both of Cameron; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde “Poochy” Barentine; a brother; and a daughter, Renee Barentine. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Father Ronald Vaughn will officiate. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Creole. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Shane Savoie, Justin Collins, Charles Jinks, Joshua Barentine, Gilbert Daigle and Randy Nunez. Honorary pallbearer will be T-Don Morceaux. Photo included with article. BARGEMAN, Agnes LCAP 2006 Oct 27 Ms. Agnes Bargeman, 97, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, in an area hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Cameron and a lifelong member of St. Rose Catholic Church and its Alter Society. Ms. Bargeman was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bargeman. Survivors include Patrick Rankin of Lake Charles, whom she looked on as her son; a special great-niece, whom she looked on as her daughter, Carolyn Bargeman of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, from St. Patrick Catholic Chapel, with the Rev. Joe McGrath officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Saturday in the church. A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. before the services. Photo with article BEARD, W.C. “Willie” LCAP 01/23/2006 HOLMWOOD — W. C. “Willie” Beard, 70, died at 10:54p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, in his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Holmwood-Bell City area and graduate of Grand Lake High School. Mr. Beard retired from C.E.D. after more than 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include four daughters, Jodi Lynn Hebert and husband, Richard, of Creole, Caren Anne Ewing and husband, A.J., and Betti Jo Pesson and husband, Rusty, both of Grand Lake, and Bobbi Jo Nunez and husband, Richard, of Grand Chenier; and one son, W.C. Beard II and wife, Dawn, of Grand Lake; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wilford “J. W.” Beard of Holmwood. Beard’s wife, Roberta L. Beard, precedes him in death. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lawrence Hidalgo will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park. BENOIT, Edna Marie LCAP 08/14/2006 Edna Marie Benoit, 80, a sweet and kind soul, was lifted up to heaven, Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006. Shrimping and fishing were her favorite hobbies. She was born to Marcelle and Delita Benoit on Nov. 2, 1925. She married her late husband, Guy Benoit, on Dec. 7, 1941, and they resided in Bunkie and Mayville, before finally settling in Grand Lake. She will be deeply missed by her family. She was service manager for Cameron Parish Landfill. She was of nondenominational faith and a member of Grand Lake Tabernacle Church. She is survived by two sons, Norris Benoit and wife, Molly, of Lake Charles and Paul Benoit and wife, JoeAnn, of Sulphur; six daughters, Jackie Holland and husband, Larry, of Iowa, Linda Gary and husband, Nelson, of Lacassine, Judy Wilkinson of Omaha, Neb., Freda Cunningham and husband, John, of Call, Texas, Patsy Timmons of Grand Lake and Stella Broussard of Sulphur; one brother, Frank Benoit of Grand Lake; three sisters, Emily Abshire, Odile Courville and Ada Fontenot, all of Hayes; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by two children and six grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. Joe Bertrand will officiate. Photo included with article. BOUDOIN, Larry LCAP 07/06/2006 Services for Larry “Pete” Boudoin, 66, will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2006, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Wayne LeBleu will officiate. He died at 3:29 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, in a local hospital. Mr. Boudoin was born June 29, 1940 in Creole, where he was raised. He lived in Lake Charles for 15 years before moving to Grand Lake nine years ago. He attended South Cameron High School. In 1986, he retired from IMCO Services, a division of Halliburton, where he was employed for 19 years. Mr. Boudoin attended Christ the King Catholic Church and made the Cursillo when he was younger. He enjoyed shrimping, spending time on the water and buying and fixing boats. Mr. Boudoin is survived by his loving wife, Gayle Granger Boudoin of Grand Lake; son, Terrell Boudoin and wife Ginger of Cameron; daughter, D’Junna Boudreaux and husband Chris of Singer; stepson, John Granger and wife Ashley of Lake Charles; brother, Darrell Boudoin of Creole; grandchildren, Mandi and Brandi Boudoin, Beau, Christopher and Justin Boudreaux and Mason Granger; and great-grandchild, Gavin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Ruby Savoie Boudoin, and sister, Belva Boudoin. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Richard Brashear, 75, a native of Cameron Parish, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2006, in Lake Charles. Mrs. Brashear was born on March 10, 1931, in Sweetlake to Nolton and Gladys (Viger) Richard. She attended and graduated from Grand Lake High School. She met the love of her life, Herbert David Brashear, on a blind date, and they were joined in holy matrimony on Feb. 18, 1950. Jean and Herb raised five wonderful children, which kept Jean quite busy. She would occasionally work as a hairdresser. She was a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of SWLA where she served as a foster grandparent mentoring children at St. John Elementary School. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, the Cajun French Music Association, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2130, where she loved to dance the night away. She loved playing bingo, dancing, talking, singing and socializing with her friends. She was the life of any party, loved by many and a fun person to be around who will be truly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Brashear is survived by her sisters, Mae Ransom of Sulphur and Melba Faulk and husband Morgan “Black” of Sweetlake; sons, Keith Brashear of Big Pasture, daughter-in-law, Pam Brashear of Lake Charles, Bennie Brashear of Wichita Falls, Texas, Kurt Brashear and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Brashear of Warrensburg, Mo., and Bobby Brashear and daughter-in-law, Barbara Brashear of Lake Charles; daughter, Billie Rossiter and son-in-law Steve Rossiter of Sulphur; grandchildren, Kristine Seaward, Sara Klein, Conlon Brashear and others who are serving as pallbearers; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 38 years, Herbert David Brashear; parents, Nolton and Gladys Richard; one grandson, David Brashear; and friend and companion of 14 years, Norman Comeaux. Jean and her family would like to thank all of her friends and family for all of the support, prayers and comfort. T-Boy was a native and life resident of Cameron and Sweetlake. He was a commercial fisherman and a professional hunting guide for 18 years. He retired after 20 years of being a cook on a production supply boat. He loved to hunt, fish, skin alligators and trap. He is survived by his wife, Ella Broussard of Sweetlake; two sons, Stephen (Gloria) Broussard of Sweetlake and Gaylord (Raydessa) of Gueydan; four daughters, Susan (Ray) Mahon of Hamshire, Texas, Irma (David) Breaux and Janet (Andrew) Scott, both of Lake Charles, and Cheryl Powell of Sweetlake; 14 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; seven sisters; one brother; and one half sister. His funeral will be at 4 p.m. today, Feb. 26, in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles McMillin will officiate.
