He was born in Cameron on April 3, 1953, to Arsceneaux and Ethel January. He was the sixth of 13 children. On January 4, 1974, he married Juanita Jordan and through this union they were blessed with three beautiful children — Marcus, Amanda and Melanie Jordan. Joe had a strong love for his family, fishing, playing the guitar and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Juanita Jordan January; his children Marcus, Amanda, and Melanie January, all of Lake Charles; his godchild, Crystal Higginbotham of Jennings; his mother, Ethel January of Cameron; three brothers, Henry (Joyce) January of Orlando, Fla., Bernnel (Yuli) January Sr. of Morgan City and Arsceneaux (Linda) January Jr. of Lake Charles; five sisters, Aline January, Mary Ann January, Emily (Dale) Rogers and Eva January, all of Cameron, and Faye (Donnie) Spriggs of Cardinal, Va.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Mary Jordan of Thornwell; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George (Mary) Guillory of Iota, Patricia Deville of Lake Charles, Stanford (Mernia) Jordan and Ella (Eddie) Higginbotham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, in Combre Funeral Home. Deacon Ray Granger will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park. LCAP 04/28/2006 Evelena B. Jones, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2006, in a local hospital. She was a native of Cameron and lived in Lake Charles. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Cameron, where she was a deaconess and member of Mission II and Christian Women of Cameron. She loved to cook and loved her children. Her home was open to everyone. She took pride in raising her grandchildren and others. Anyone in Cameron Parish was always welcome to a meal. Survivors include her two daughters, Allie Carter and Rebecca LaSalle, both of Creole; seven grandchildren, Cedric LaSalle Sr., Monica H. Hill, Tiffany Bailey and husband Tracy, Walter Jones and wife Mary, Raynaldo Jones, Warren Jones III and wife Julia, and Douglas C. Jones; 19 great- grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Orelia Bargeman; husband, Warren Jones Sr.; two sons, Gary Jones and Warren Jones Jr.; one sister; and seven brothers. Her funeral will be at noon Saturday, April 29, in Old Greater St. Mary Baptist Church. The Rev. Lannis Joseph will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation is from 10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Photo with article
