Cleveland Fruge'. ------------------------------- On January 31, 1969, Judge Boyd was appointed by Governor McKeithen to complete Judge McGee's Term, upon Judge McGee's death. The Judge was born on May 4, 1922, in Jonesville, Louisiana. He is married to Gene Smith Boyd and they are the parents of Lauri Boyd, and James Richard Boyd. He was graduated from Block High School, Jonesville, Louisiana, in 1939, L.S.U., 1943 (B.A. Bus. Adm.), and L.S.U. Law School in 1949. He is a member of Gamma Eta Gamma and Phi Kapa Alpha Fraternal organizations. Upon graduation from law school and prior to his appointment as Judge, Judge Boyd practiced law in Catahoula Parish for twenty years. He is the son of Richard Penn Boyd, Sr., and Edna Duke Boyd of Jonesville, Louisiana. Judge Boyd was the Secretary of the Catahoula Parish Police Jury from 1955 to 1966 and was assistant District Attorney, Seventh District, from 1966 to January, 1969. During World War II, Judge Boyd served thirty-eight months in the United States Navy as Lieutanant. His hobbies are fishing, hunting and breeding poled Hereford cattle.
