He was born April 6, 1867 in Catahoula Parish, LA. He married April 13, 1892, Rosa May Routh, daughter of Francis Routh and Emeline Gibson Routh. He was President of the Catahoula Parish School Board in 1918 and signed many High School Diplomas including his own daughter's, Emeline Dayton. He was later Superintendent of the Schools in Catahoula Parish and his portrait hangs in the School Board. He owned Pecan Grove Plantation known also as Ogden Plantation. His grandmother, Sarah Dayton Morris owned Frogmore Plantation. He enjoyed having large barbecues with many people attending from all over. Upon his death on the 29th of January 1941, his funeral was held at Block High School and was attended by many.
