COTTON FAMILY CEMETERY (Catahoula Parish)

Going toward Jonesville from Jena on US Hwy. 84, go exactly 5.1 miles past
blinking light at Archie.  (This is the intersection of US Hwy. 84 and 
LA Hwy. 28 coming from Pineville).  After passing Archie Terminal on the 
left, the road is near the levee in several places.  The land is in
open fields broken up by wind-breaks or terraces between the road and the
levee.  At the 5.1 mile mark, there is a windbreak with a turnrow 
(dirt road) the left of it. The little cemetery can be seen from the road 
on the right side of the windbreak, but must be reached by car on the left
side.  There is an arch cut in brush as a pathway to the cemetery.  The
original iron fence, about 3 feet high, is still standing, inside new 
hurricane fence.  The area is about 30 feet by 40 feet. The old fence with 
spiked-top uprights, has six pedestal type posts still standing, but there 
is no sign of a gate.  The only stone was a large, modern double marker, 
possibly replacing the original ones.  Inscription copied by Mary Parker
