Valentine _ Land to _ Manson Brown**** Recorded January 28th 1863 State of Louisiana } Parish of Catahoula} Be it known and remembered, that on this 28th day of January AD 1863, before me William Morgan Tew Deputy Recorder in &for said Parish and State, and the two subscribing witnesses personally came and appeared William R Valentine of said Parish, Who declared, that for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars to him Cash in hand paid, by Manson Brown also of same residence, the receipt of which he hereby acknowledged_ He hath this day granted, bargained, Sold, conveyed and delivered unto him, all his right, title, interest and claim in and to the following land situate lying and being in the Parish of Catahoula to wit: the North 1/2 of Northwest quarter of Section No Six in Township No nine of range No four east, containing Seventy Seven acres & 11/100_ To have and to hold the same to him, his heirs and assigns forever, the title to which land he binds himself to warrant and defend from the claims of himself, his heirs and assigns and from all other persons whatever_ The parties to this act exonerate me from processing the same without the production of a Mortgage certificate as required by Article 3328 of the Civil Code of Louisiana_ In faith whereof the said parties sign the same in presence of and together with Eli Splawn and Talbot A.
