The Ouachita Telegraph - George Washington Shoots and Kills W. H. Taylor Date: Oct 2000 Submitted by: Lora Peppers ********************************************** Copyright. Taylor, white, a citizen of Catahoula parish while he was plowing in his field. The boy was caught, and as the following account from the Harrisonburg News would indicate, neither his wooden leg nor the distinction of passing under the name of the Father of his Country saved him: The boy was captured by the constable of the ward and a posse who started for this place with him – but up to this writing they have not reached here. It is some distance from here, the roads are bad and the woods are thick and it is conjectured that he might have escaped from the posse. He probably escaped a trial by jury but the crime was a horrible one and if he got “lost” in the thickest of those thick woods his fate was well merited. # # #
