A native ofOpelousas and a former resident of Le Moyen, Mrs. Carmello had been a resident of Scott for 11years. She was the daughter of the late Bernard Bertrand and the former Eugenie Verrett, bothnatives of Swords.She loved her family and friends and was always giving of herself to others. Mrs. Carmello was anactive member of The Greenhouse.Survivors include: two daughters, Johnette C. Gooding and her husband George of Lafayette andSylvia Theresa Beard and her husband Lane of Baton Rouge; a son, Kirt Paul Carmello and wifeRhonda of Opelousas; 10 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Elizabeth Anna, Joshua, Esther and JohnGooding, Misty and Megan Beard, Quentin Seth, Tyler Malcolm and Callie Brook Carmello; asister, Theresa Laporte and her husband Irving "Popooce" of Lafayette; and a brother, J.D.Lafleur of Violet.Mrs. Carmello was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Consacion Seth Carmello; and herparents.Visiting hours will be observed from 3 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Friday until time ofservices.Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette, 234-2311, is in charge of arrangements. =========================
