John Stonewall Chenault passed from this life into the larger life August
9,1942 having lived two months and seven days beyond the span of four
scoreyears.  He joined a Baptist Church early in life, and fell asleep in
the faiththat Baptists have held to be true since the beginning.His earthly
remains were laid to rest in Oakley Cemetery, Gilbert, La. August10 as many
scores of his friends and loved ones stood about.  The serviceswere held by
his pastor, Rev. John R. Campbell, assisted by Rev. S.S. Hollidaypastor of
the Methodist Church and J.C. Price of Pioneer, La.Mr. Chenault was not only
strong in faith, but also strong in his convictionsof character.  He was
outspoken for the right, loyal to the Lord, faithful asa friend, highly
public spirited and of a very tender heart.He leaves a wife and four
children, a host of grandchildren and many friendsto mourn his going.  His
children, all boys, have shown themselves to be thedescendants of a noble
father.  Among them is the world-famed Gen. ClaireChenault of aviation
fame.We shall miss his genial smile, handshake and gracious hospitality, but
shallrenew happy associations with him when we are gathered with the Lord's
people"over there". We extend to his bereaved widow, children and friends
our sincere andheartfelt sympathy, and pray that they shall look forward

at the William Young homeplace in Catahoula Parish, La. on December 4,1910.
