Elisha Lott Cotten passed away suddenly at his home near Harrisonburg, 
Louisiana on Saturday August 31, 1946 following a series of heart attacks.  He 
was 93 years of age born in Avoyelles Parish Louisiana on June 21, 1853 to 
Benjamin George and Elizabeth Cloyde Cotten.  He was buried Sunday, September 
1, 1946 in the Harrisonburg town cemetery, Rev. A.R. Masters offficiating.  
He married Miss Laura A. Flowers December 17, 1874 in Summerville, LaSalle 
Parish, Louisiana who passed away twenty one years ago.  
He is survived by three sons: Oscar M. Cotten, Harrisonburg, LA, A.Butler 
Cotten, Manifest, LA and Purvis R. Cotten, Gilbert, LA: and two daughters: 
Mrs. Lucy Husbands, Harrisonburg,LA and Mrs. Mattie Strange, Jonesville, LA.
He leaves 57 grandchildren and 65 great grandchildren.  He was too young to 
serve in the Civil War but had sons and grandsons in both World War I and II.
