Paul Broussard, associate pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, conducted theservices. Committal services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Paul R. Eleazar, Our Lady of the HolyRosary Catholic Church in Kaplan. Jason Pennington, organist, played for the services, "AveMaria", "The Lord's Prayer", "On Eagles' Wings" and "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman".Mrs. Eastin, a native of Grand Coteau and a resident of Lafayette since 1969, died at 3 a.m.Friday, February 22, 2002, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Edward VictorBarry, a native of Grand Coteau, and the former Rita Simon, a native of Franklin. Mrs. Eastinattended the Academy of the Sacred Heart and retired from Monroe and Lemann Law Firm ofNew Orleans after 15 years of service. She was formerly employed by Dubuisson, Perrault andBurleigh of Opelousas for five years.She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Community, the Catholic Daughters ofAmerica, the 50+ Club at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the St. Theresa Rosary Circle.Survivors include: a stepson, Peter Voorhies Eastin and his wife Dorothy of Texas; three stepgrandchildren, Mark, Peggy and Bill Eastin, all of Texas; and two sisters, Viola B. Voorhies ofNew Orleans and Laurie B. Dupre of Eunice.Mrs. Eastin was preceded in death by her husband, S.F. Eastin; her parents; three brothers,George, Ashton and Charles Barry; and five sisters, Leonie Chachere, Marie B. Sibille, Bea B.Haggarty, Mat Barry and Rita Pittman.Visiting hours were observed from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, in Martin & Castille FuneralHome, Inc. and from 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, until time of services in Our Lady of FatimaCatholic Church. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.Memorial contributions in Mrs. Eastin's name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503.Pallbearers were Barry McGee, Douglas McGee, Gerald Sibille, James Sibille, Marvin Ducote andMark Ducote.
