Posted on February 25, 2002 Rowland FontenotEUNICE - Funeral Services for
Mr. Rowland S. Fontenot, 82, will be held at 3 p.m. today in St.Anthony's
Catholic Church here with burial in St. Paul Mausoleum.The Rev. Joseph
Alexander will conduct the services.Mr. Fontenot, a resident of Eunice, died
2:45 a.m. Sunday, February 24, 2002, in EuniceCommunity Medical Center after
a long illness. He was a veteran of World War II, having servedin the Navy,
and a Pearl Harbor survivor. Mr. Fontenot was the owner/operator of Oday
FontenotGrocery and General Merchandise Store from 1946 until 1973. He then
worked for 10 years withthe Department of Motor Vehicles before retiring.
Mr. Fontenot was a Third and Fourth DegreeKnight.Survivors include: his wife
Lourella Soileau Fontenot of Eunice; a son, Marcus N. Fontenot ofBaton
Rouge; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn "Sharlene" Laughlin of Eunice; two
grandchildren, SeanOday Fontenot and wife Kathryn of New Orleans, and
Michael Laughlin of Eunice.Visiting hours were observed from 4 to 9 p.m. and
from 8 a.m. today until time of services. Arosary was recited at 7
p.m.Ardoin's Funeral Homes of Eunice is in charge of the
