All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** =====Death Claims Mrs. Hanes - On Thursday evening, March 31, 1921 at 11:00o'clock, the grim reaper collected his toll of life and took from thiscommunity one of its most loveable characters in the person of Mrs. Alice Lena Hanes, beloved wife of S.B. Hanes, aged 57 years, the end coming suddenly from heart failure, a malady with which she had been troubled for some time.Mrs. Hanes was born on April 14, 1864 and had she lived until the 14th of the present month would have reached her 57th birthday. She was married to Mr. S.B. Hanes thirty-eight years ago, three children having been born to them, but only one of whom survives her, Mrs. F.H. McBride, of this place.She was a devout Christian, having early in life accepted the Methodist faith as her religion, and by precept and example followed as nearly as possible in the footsteps of the Savior. Her home life was simple and plain, being content to bask in the love of her husband, daughter and grandchildren to whom her every thought was devoted.She leaves to mourn her loss, besides the heart-broken husband, a daughter, Mrs. R. H. McBride, two grandchildren, Alice and Mamie McBride; two brothers, Ernest and Ed Young of Utility; six sisters, Mrs. Lillie Wilkinson of Lavacca; Mrs. J.P. Whatley of Eden; Mrs. J.B. Ray of Siddons, Miss.; Mrs. J.C. Chenault, Mrs. Giles Hanks of Gilbert; Mrs. Henry T. Young of Natchitoches, and friends innumerable, who with the Times, tender heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and relatives in their hour of trouble and sorrow.Internment was had Friday evening in the Methodist cemetery here, the Rev. W.E. Akin assisted by Rev. L.H. Brooks, conducted the funeral ceremony.(Note: Alice Lena Young was the daughter of William Young and MarthaElizabeth Hughes - she married Sheppard B.
