Huff of Catahoula parish came as a great shock to hismany friends in LaSalle and Catahoula parishes. Mr. Huff died at a Monroehospital Sunday night where he had been sick for several days. He was saidto have developed pneumonia causing his death.Mr. Huff was serving his 3rd term as sheriff of Catahoula parish havingbeen elected the first time in 1932. Soon after his election he purchasedan ambulance for the conveyance for the needy people to hospitals. He wastermed by the late Huey P. Long and Oscar Allen as the originator of freeambulance service in Louisiana. Through this service he has made anenestimated number of friends who will not soon forget him.Huey Long and Oscar Allen both stated publicly, according to friends of thesheriff, that Huff was responsible for the State considering action towardfree ambulances.Funeral services were held at Harrisonburg Tuesday under the direction ofWinnsboro Funeral Home, of Winnsboro, La.Sheriff Huff leaves to mourn his passing his wife and one daughter, Mrs.Albert Earl Krause of Sicily Island, La and a host of friends.------------------------------------ -----------------------------------
