Intelligencer of the 12th ultimo, that a few days previously a fatal rencontre [sic] took place in the Parish of Catahoula, between Henry Umble, John Davis, and a man by the name of Ross, and two brothers by the name of Jonathan and Absalom Haggerty. The elder Haggerty being severely wounded by a shot received in the thigh, handed his brother, quite a youth, a double barrel shot gun, and directed him to kill their assailants, whereupon young Haggerty immediately shot dead Umble and Ross, and was himself slightly wounded by a shot received from Davis. The wound of the elder Haggerty is supposed to be mortal. Additional Comments: Note: "Umble" would be Henry Humble, Jr., son of Henry Humble, Sr. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/catahoula/obits/h/humble3541gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/lafiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
