Marvin Walton

BATON ROUGE - Funeral services for Mr. Marvin Earl "Buster" Walton, 89, will
be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Welsh Funeral Home Chapel here with burial
in Myrtle Grove Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Armand Erwin of Grace Presbyterian Church will conduct the services.

Mr. Walton, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Neita, died at 1:15
p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2002, in Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton
Rouge. He was a Soil Section Investigator with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Walton was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Elder Emeritus, and
became Master Mason of Fairfields Masonic Lodge on August 6, 1954.

Mr. Walton was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather as well
as an avid hunter and fisherman.

His family would like to especially thank Dr. Harry Day and the caring
nurses and hospital staff in MICU at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mauri Walton George and husband Warren,
and Brenda Melancon; a son, Jimmy Mark Walton; three brothers, George "Rabb"
Walton Jr. of Melville, Leland Walton of Alexandria and Carey Walton of
Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, Gerami George, Bradlee George, Michael
Keesing, Jeni Thomassie, Dalyn Melancon, Conan Walton and Chanel Walton; and
three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Walton was preceded in death by his parents, George R. Walton and
Florence Keller Walton; his wife, Bernice PefferKorn Walton; two brothers,
Marion "Bill" Walton and John T. Walton Sr.; a sister, Vola Glynn Maddie;
and a grandchild, Trista Melancon.

Visiting hours will be observed from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.
Wednesday until time of services in Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd.,
Baton Rouge, which is in charge of arrangements.
