On Friday, July 12, at 4 o'clock p.m. little Laurence, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Young, was called to the arms of its maker. He was a victim of slow fever and inflamation of the stomach, and all the many efforts of his kind physician and loving parents to save his precious little life were in vain. God had need of another tender, sweet flower to help to grace his heavenly throne. He was nine months old the day he was laid to rest. His illness was of 16 days duration, and during those long anxious days when high fever scorched and burned his little body, not one groan or cry of pain escaped his lips. He was gentle, patient and submissive till the last. His little body was laid away near his grandmother in China Grove grave yard Saturday, July 13, 1907. Bro. Cudd of Jonesville, and Br. Brown of Jena, performed the burial services which were very impressive and consoling. A number of relatives and friends were present at the sad occasion. Truly the ways of our all wise Creator are mysterious and the most gigantic minds are puzzled when they attempt to answer the question why this bright, sweet flower should be plucked from this happy home circle and leave the young parents so grieved and heart broken. However, we must bow to the will of Him who doeth all things according to the exercise of his own will. ..... the writer tenders heartfelt sympathy to the grief stricken parents and bids them look to the dear Savior for comfort in this sad time of bereavement. By His Aunt (Note: The obituary was written by Lawrence Young's aunt, Martha Elizabeth Young. Lawrence was the son of Henry Thomas Young and Jessie Young - he was born October 13, 1906 at Utility, La. He was buried in what is now the Young Cemetery, without a marker until 72 years later when one was placed on his grave by his sister, Daisy Mae Young Todd and a brother, David Morrison Young.)
