State of Louisiana
Parish of Catahoula					We the undersigned
Justices of the Peace in and for the Parish of Catahoula Louisiana being 
Called on to attend at the House of James Bowie, free man of Color, on the 
Bushley Creek in the Parish of Catahoula Louisiana for the Purpose of Taking 
Testimony Relative to the Contestation of the election of John J. Bowie as 
member to the House of Representatives in general assembly of the State of 
Louisiana.  Met accordingly on Friday the 5th day of November 1824 and took 
the deposition of Joseph Francis, Senr which is hereunto assigned.
