     Eleventh District Court, Parish of Catahoula
                STATE OF LOUISIANA

    Know all Men by these Presents, That I, Levi Bass Jr. as 
principal, and C. C. Duke security, of said Parish, and State, are
held and firmly bound unto R. C. Wickliff Governor, of the State of
Louisiana, or his successors in office, in the just and full sum of
Three hundred Dollars, for the full and punctual payment of which sum,
we hereby bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators,
firmly by these presents, this 4th day of September A.D. 1858.

    The condition of the above obligation is such that if there
exists no legal impediment to the celebration of a Marriage between
the above bounden Levi Bass Jr. as aforesaid, and Ellen Amanda
Thacker then the above obligation to be null and void, otherwise to
be and remain in full force and effect.
    In Witness whereof, we have hereunto subscribed our names, the
day and ate above written.

hereby authorized and empowered to celebrate a Marriage between
      Levi Bass Jr.        and     Ellen A. Thacker
of this Parish, and in your doings in the premises you make a return
to this office, according to law.

                Witness my signature and the Seal of said Court, this
                4th day of Sept. A.D. Eighteen hundred and fifty-eight

BE IT REMEMBERED, That in pursuance and by authority of a License that
issued from the office of the Clerk of the Eleventh District Court for
said Parish and State, I John P. Blake, A minister in and for said 
Parish, proceeded at the residence of William Thacker in said Parish,
to celebrate a Marriage between Levi Bass Jr. and Ellen A. Thacker
of said Parish, present and consenting to said Marriage according to
law.
    In witness whereof, I have caused the said parties to sign this
act in presence of the under signed Witnesses witnesses above the age
of twenty-one years, and residing in said Parish, who were present at
said Marriage, and who sign this act with the parties and me
  on this 8 day of September A.D. Eighteen hundred and fifty-eight

**Submitter's notes: Ellen Amanda Thacker was the daughter of William
Davis Thacker and MaLinda (Jones) Thacker.  She was born circa 1842 
and died 10 August 1893.  Levi Bass Jr. died during the Civil War.
