    Or any Judge, Justice of the Peace, or any legally authorized
Minister of the Gospel, for the Parish of Catahoula - GREETING:
    You are hereby authorized and empowered to celebrate a Marriage
between William Book and Mrs. Amanda Safford of this Parish, and of
your doings in the premises, you will make due return to this office,
according to law.
                  Witness my signature officially, and the Seal
                  of said Court, this 22nd day of July A.D. 1893

                  CERTIFICATE OF CELEBRATION

    Be it remembered that in pursuance and by authority of a License
that issued from the office of the Clerk of the 8th District Court,
for said Parish and State, I W. F. Cook of Catahoula Parish a legally
authorized Justice of the Peace in and for said Parish proceeded at
my office in said Parish to celebrate a Marriage between Wm. Book
and Mrs. Amanda Safford of said Parish, present and consenting to
said Marriage.
    In Witness Whereof, I have caused the said parties to sign this
act in the presence of Richard M. Book, J. M. Trisler, William H.
Paulk, three witnesses, above the age of twenty-one years, and 
residing in said Parish, who were present at said Marriage, and who
sign this act with the parties and me, the said Justice of the Peace
on this the 27th day of July A.D. 1893

**Submitter's notes: This is apparently the fourth marriage for Ellen
Amanda Thacker.  She was the daughter of William Davis Thacker and 
MaLinda Jones Thacker.  She was born circa 1842 and died 10 August 
1893, only two weeks after her marriage to Mr. Book.  No information
on Mr. Book.
