To Revd W. F. Ford
    Or any Judge, Justice of the Peace, or legally authorized
Minister of the Gospel, of the Parish of Catahoula,
Greeting:
    You are hereby authorized and empowered to celebrate a Marriage
between Mr. L. Safford and Mrs. E. A. Brown of this Parish, and of 
your doings in the premises, you will make due returns to this Office,
According to law.
                  Witness my Signature and the Seal of said Court,
                  this 9th day of Aug A.D. 1880

PARISH OF CATAHOULA     }

    Be it remembered that in pursuance and by authority of a License,
that issued from the Office of the Clerk of the Twelfth District
Court for said Parish and State, I, John P. Blake Sr. a legally
authorized minister of the Gospel in and for said Parish, preceeded
at my Residance in said Parish to celebrate a Marriage between
Lebrain Safford and Ellen Amanda Brown of said Parish, present and
consenting to said Marriage.
    In witness whereof, I have caused the said parties to Sign this
act, in presence of S. Lisenby, W. W. Dunn, and W. H. Smith
three witnesses above the age of twenty-one years, and residing in
said Parish, who were present at said Marriage, and who Sign this act
with the parties, and me the said minister on this the 11th day of
August A.D. 1880

this is her third marriage.  She was born circa 1842 and died 10 Aug.
1893, the daughter of William Davis Thacker and MaLinda (Jones)
Thacker.  No information on Mr. Safford.
