Most of those buried later descended from them. Their graves bear no markers, only the two large rocks beneath a large oak tree. Daniel is believed to have been born about 1790 in North Carolina, but it could have been as early as 1782, as his age on the 1860 census was listed as 78. Daniel had at least eight children by his first wife, named Anne or Mozelle. He married his second wife Nancy Colby on October 13, 1835 in North Carolina. Nancy was born about 1816 in North Carolina. They had eleven children. They moved to Claiborne Parish sometime after their fifth child John Jefferson was born (July 1844) but before daughter Nancy Caroline was born (September 1846). Daniel died sometime between 1860 and 1870. Nancy died May 20, 1881. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ballard, Elma P.
