Constitution of State Line Church, State of Louisiana, Parish of Claiborne. We the undersigned do hereby convenant and agree to establish a Church at J. R. BISHOP's House to conform to all the requirement of the Scriptures to live ... maintain Ordinances and to attend the Meetings Regularly unless Providentially hindered. Names of Members, Dec. (year has disappeared - told it was 1861 but first bound records are 1868). Members as listed on handwritten ledger page with Constitution. Details were found in church minutes or genealogical records. Although funeral sermons were noted as being held, no names of dead are listed. The last records for August 13 (appears to be 1880 in some places, 1881 in others) are for dismissal by act of dissolution of the church. Founding members listed in original order: Note: J. R. The church send one Dollar and fifty cts and ask fifteen copies of minutes. On motion the Conference closed in order. Hillery PHILLIPS Jn., J. R. BISHOP, Clerk Saturday before the 2nd Sabbath in September 1868, the Church then proceded to the election of a Pastor and Clerk for the next Association year. Bro. Hillery PHILLIPS was unanimously elected Pastor and J. R. BISHOP, Clerk and Bros. CULPEPPER and J. R. BISHOP appointed as a commity to inform Bro. PHILLIPS of his call. GRIFFIN appointed conference on the next day, Being the second Sunday in August 1869....on motion the Church Elected Delegates to the Association. Brethren J. R. BISHOP and S. CULPEPPER was chosen and Joseph WISE as alternate. On motion the church called J. T. H. GRIFFIN to supply the Church as Pastor to fill the vacancy of PHILLIPS caused by removal. BISHOP - Note: The church at this time has no Pastor which will account for there being no conference held up to the second Sunday in December at which time G. G. WISE met with us and after Services held conference and granted Bro. J. R. At eleven oclock the same Sabbath a funeral Sermon by the Pastor from 46th Sam-Then Conference called off untill canel light and sermon by the Pastor after which the door of the Church was open for the Reception of members when Miss Josephine MILICAN was received upon her experience and was Baptise and then the meeting Protraced Several days and the conference close in order Henry T. Then the church elected delegates Steven CULPEPPER & Joseph WISE to meet with the Association. The church sent up $1.50 cent for minutes. When the clerk prepared a pertisnary letter to the Liberty Association for Membership. Conference then closed in order. Henry T. The Baptis Church at State Line meet in conference after Sermond by George W. SAWYER then the church set in conference on Saturday before the 4th Lords day in April. Mosion by the Church wheras Bro. The Missionary Baptist Church at State Line Church The Baptist Church at Colquitt met in conference and after sermon by the moderator H. T. B. conference met in order. ...B. BRAS???, moderator; J. F.
