Christian Claiborne Parish, Louisiana Probate #2647 Filed July 05, 1931 The petition of E. O. Christian, Mrs. Mary A. Christian, Mrs. W. W. Monk, nee Christian, W. B. Christian, Mrs. Mattie M. Meadows, nee Christian, and A. O. Christian, all residents of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, except Mrs. Mattie M. Meadows who is a resident of Merryville, Louisiana, would with respect represent unto your Honorable Court as follows, to-wit: 1. That James A. Christian died intestate in Rochester, Minnesota, on the 3rd day of May, 1931. 2. That said James A. Christian was at the time of his death and had been all of his life a resident of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. That the said James A. Christian died possessed of both real and personal property, the greater portion of which is situated in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. 3. That E. O. Christian is the father, Mrs. Mary A. Christian the mother, Mrs. W. W. Monk a sister, W. B. Christian a brother, Mrs. Mattie M. Meadows a sister and A. O. Christian a brother of the said James A. Christian, deceased, and that there are no other brothers or sisters living or dead of the said James A. Christian, deceased. 4. That James A. Christian died without issue, having never been married, and left as his sole and only heirs your petitioners. 5. Your petitioners now show the Court that the Estate and Succession of James A. Christian, deceased, consists of the following described property, to-wit: 2 shares Claiborne Parish Co-operative Creamery stock 1 share of preferred stock in the American Finance Company 20 1/5 shares of common stock in the American Finance Company Cash in open account with Planters Bank & Trust Company of Haynesville, LA $ 150.00 Cash in open account with the American National Bank of Shreveport, LA $ 109.45 Cash in savings account with the American National Bank of Shreveport, LA $ 84.00 One insurance policy, #4 073 470 for the sum of $1000.00 in the New York Life Insurance Company on the life of James A. Christian, deceased payable to the Estate of James A. Christian. One insurance policy, #135538 for the sum of $1000.00 in the Columbian Mutual Life Insurance Company on the life of James A. Christian, deceased, payable to the Estate of James A. Christian. One insurance policy in the Mutual Life Insurance Company for the sum of $5000.00 plus paid-up extended insurance $300.00. 1/3 interest in 4 head cows and calves with Christian and Monk 1/2 interest in 5 cows and 7 calves with A. O. Christian 8 cows and calves 1/3 interest in gin of Christian and Monk 1/2 interest in one Chevrolet Truck 1929 Model One judgement against W. L. Odom in favor of E. O. Christian & Sons for the sum of $241.05 with 8% interest per annum from October 15th, 1917, said judgement dated May 5th, 1922. Account due from A. H. Huggins $ 146.10 Account due from W. B. Turner $ 11.00 Account due from Christian & Monk $ 74.90 One note due from J. M. Monk $ 35.00 One note due from Will Evans plus interest for 2 1/2 years $ 14.75 1/3 interest in note from Ed Turner to Christian and Monk $ 35.00 1/2 interest in note due from T. E. Barrow to W. W. Monk due Feb. 5, 1930 $ 81.20 6. That the total liabilities due and owing by James A. Christian, deceased, at the time of his death amounts to the sum of One Thousand, Six Hundred Seventy-Eight & 98/100 Dollars which indebtedness is hereby assumed by your petitioners and that, an administration of the Succession being unnecessary, they desire immediately to be placed in possession of the herein above described property and of the Estate and Succession of James A. Christian, deceased, as the owners thereof in the proportions hereinafter set forth and according to law. 7. That under the law of the State of Louisiana, the Estate and Succession together with all the property belonging thereto of James A. Christian, deceased, is inherited by and belongs to your petitioners in the following proportions, to-wit: E.O. Christian (father) 1/4 interest Mrs. Mary A. Christian (mother) 1/4 interest Mrs. W. W. Monk (sister) 1/8 interest W. B. Christian (brother) 1/8 interest Mrs. Mattie M. Meadows (sister) 1/8 interest A. O. Christian (brother) 1/8 interest and that since the entire Estate is worth the sum of Thirteen Thousand, Five Hundred Eighty-Six and 09/100 Dollars, the amount inherited by each of your petitioners is much less than Five Thousand and No/100 ($5000.00) Dollars and that therefore, under the law, no inheritance taxes are due the State of Louisiana by any of your petitioners and your petitioners should forthwith be declared the owners of said property in the proportions herein above described and be immediately sent into possession as owners without the payment of any inheritance tax. # # #
