I James Wise, Sr. of Claiborne parish and State of Louisiana regarding lifes uncertains and being in possession of a sound mind deem it proper to make this my last will and testament. In the first place I will my body to dust and my soul to God who gave it.. In the second place I will and appoint my wife formerly Permelia Miller sole Executrix of my estate I wish her to collect all my debts and pay promtly all that I am owing after which I wish her to proceed of all the remains of my estate during her life and at her death to be equal divided between her sons and daughters. In testamony whereof I have here unto made my ordinary mark [not being able to write my name] in presence of . Wm F. Moreland and J. L. Ligner both witnesses of lawful age and domiciled in said parish and state who have knowingly signed their names together with myself and in the presence of another on this the 23 day of November AD 1857 signed James Wise his mark Attested and signed J. L. Ligner Wm F. Moreland before me James A. Millican the recorder in and for the said parish. Personnally came and appeared J. L. Ligner one of the subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing will who after being duly sworn declared that he saw James Wise, Sr sign the same by making his ordinary mark. He not being able to write and I believe him to be in sound mind. Also that he saw that Wm. F. Moreland sign the same as a witness with himself the said Ligner all in the presence of each other sworn to and subscribed before me this 25th day of November AD 1857 Signed by J. L. Ligner Wm F.
