WISE DEC'D To the Hon Allen Barksdale Judge of the 3rd [30th] Judicial District Court holding sessions in and for the Parish of Claiborne Louisiana. The petition of Nathaniel Wise a resident of Bienville Parish Louisiana with respect represents that he was confirmed as natural tutor of his three minor children issue of the marriage of himself and Lou L. Cargile dec'd, in the year A D 1882, that all property on hand and belonging to the community and his seperate property was inventoried at the time of his sad appointment; that the total inventory of said property amounted to the sum of two thousand two hundred thirty two dollars; that of the property included in said inventory the following was his seperate property viz. One horse appraised at sixty dollars, two head of cattle appraised at twelve 50/100 dollars, and eight head of hogs appraised at forty dollars, making one hundred and twelve 50/100 dollars; that the land inventoried had been purchased by him on a credit some time before his marriage with said Lou L. Cargile that a few months after said marriage he made the first payment of four hundred dollars on said land with his own seperate money, having collected from his father the sum of five hundred dollars on a debt due him by his said father before his said marriage and the other one hundred dollars was invested by him in the community; that said community owed at the death of his said wife debts to the amount of over two hundred fifty dollars, and that he used all of the two hundred twenty two dollars value of the said cotton on the inventory and more besides in the payment of said debts; that he paid out the sum of twenty five dollars in having the inventory taken; holding family meeting and having himself appointed tutor etc: that he has contracted to pay to J. A. Dorman Attorney at law the sum of twenty five dollars to file this account and have same homologated, and that he estimates the propable expenses of filing and homologation of this account at twenty five dollars, making the sum total of nine hundred and nine 50/100 dollars for which petitioner is entitled to be credited. Petitioner represents that after his said marriage with his said wife he received a sum of sixty dollars from the estate of his dead wife's dec'd father James Cargile and that after said inventory was taken, under the advice of a family meeting he sold the land inventory for the sum of two thousand dollars being five hundred more than said land was inventoried at, and for which excess he is chargeable, which two sums make five hundred and sixty dollars that should be added to the amount of said inventory, making the total amount of debit for which the petitioner is chargeable, two thousand seven and ninety two dollars deducting the said credit from the debit leaves the sum of eight hundred from eighty two 50/100 dollars, one half of which, nine hundred forty one dollars belongs to petitioner as his share of the community property.
