Well in the beginning I will say that I am the eldest daughter of your Uncle Reuben........you remember me now. A long time ago, away back in another century, when I was a little girl, visiting my Grandmother in Macon Ga you came to see me and carried me home with you, and several years later, my oldest brother and I visited our relatives in Monroe. I did not know until today that you were in the land of the living (for we are all getting old). A nephew of mine who is trying to get all the information he can concerning our ancestry, wrote me that he had found out that Unlce William's son D. M. Phillips lived in Haynesville La. I knew at once it was "cousin David" and decided I would write to you. This nephew of mine is the son of my oldest brother Jule, who died six years ago. You know it is quite the rage these days for people to want to know all about their ancestry, especially if any of them were in the Revolutionary War. Unfortunately none of us can give him any information. It seems strange too that we were so careless about it when we had the opportunity of finding..........our Grandfather, and I am ashamed to say that all I know about him is that his name was David and that he lived in Wilks County Georgia. I know that he was of Irish descent. As you are his namesake, perhaps you did not neglect to find out more about him. Now I want you to write me at your very earliest convenience and tell me every thing about the family as far back as you have any knowledge. I think your father was the oldest child of our branch of the family, was he not? Then uncle Matthew and I think uncle Jonathan was next, then my father then uncle Nathan. I don't know where the girls came in and really don't know their names and if there were any other brothers I don't know. We want to know all we can about our forefathers, who they were, where they were born, what their occupation, and all that you can tell us. I want to know too, as much as you can tell me about our branch of the family. I never knew very much of my father's family being widely separated from them.........Did you have any other sister but cousin Frank? It seems to me there was a younger one, but I am not quite certain. The lady who referred my nephew to you was a granddaughter of uncle William, a Mrs. Zillner. I suppose she is cousin Frank's daughter. My husband was Dr. Myles J. Greene, who has many relatives living in Monroe Co. Ga. He died nearly nine years ago. Please answer soon. With kind regards to you and yours. Your aff cousin, M. A. E. Greene # # #
