The Haynesville News, after November 25, 1940
"RITES TUESDAY FOR PLANTER KILLED IN TRUCK COLLISION"
" Haynesville.---Jim H Goodwin, 72, prominent planter of this section, was 
killed at 2 pm Monday when a pick-up truck he was driving was struck, as it 
came out of a side road during a heavy rain, by a truck driven by Henry 
Johnson, negro.
The accident occurred one mile south of Haynesville on Highway No. 79.
RITES TUESDAY.
Funeral services were held at the residence at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday 
afternoon, with interment in Shady Grove Cemetery near here. Rev. Louis 
Hoffpauir, Methodist pastor here and the Rev, W O Lynce of Logansport were to 
conduct the services.
M. E. Norton, Haynesville Marshal, pronounced the accident unavoidable and 
blamed it to heavy rains and poor visability. H H Branton, who lives near the 
scene of the crash, witnessed the accident.
LIST OF SURVIVORS.
Surviving the deceased are the widow; three sons, Donnie of Springhill, 
Medford of Haynesville and Henry of Talco, Texas; and four daughters, Mrs 
Myrtle Collins of Emerson Arkansas, Mrs Alma Sanders and Mrs Carmen Madelock 
(sic) of Haynesville, and Mrs Lida Madelock (sic) of Sulphur Bluff, Texas.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Norton Funeral home.

Louisiana."Rest is thine, sweet remembrance ours". m. Sept, 21, 1888 Columbia 
County, Ark. Mary (Molly) Josephine Murray b. Mar 23, 1872 d. Aug. 23, 1955 
Buried Shady Grove , Haynesville, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. "In his will is 
our peace".
