(John Thomas died the same day this was in the paper). "Haynesville News", February, 1933 (after February 2, 1933) J T Goodwin DIED THURSDAY AT AGE OF 85 "Another pioneer citizen of Claiborne Parish passed to his great reward when J T Goodwin died at his home five miles south of Haynesville. Had Mr. Goodwin lived until April he would have been 86 years of age. The funeral services were held at the Shady Grove Cemetery Friday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Geo. Chambers of Arkansas, and assisted by the Rev. C A Calhoun, pastor of the Haynesville Methodist Protestant Church. The following relatives survive: wife of the deceased, and the children Ben, Jim, George, Robert and Mrs. Sally Lambright, all living in this area. Mr. Goodwin was born in Mississippi, but came to Claiborne when a lad of 7 or 8 years. He has lived almost his entire life here, and was counted as one of the best citizens. He remained very active until near the end when he was stricken with pneumonia. He has reared a splendid family of children, who have the respect of the entire community. He was a Christian gentleman, always living a clean life, and believed in the upbuilding of the parish. In the passing of Mr. Goodwin, Haynesville and the surrounding community feels the loss very heavily for he was a friend to everyone. Clipping was cut without benefit of date Additional Comments: It is believed that John Thomas died of cancer. Although others in the family say pneumonia. While most cancer patients don't actually die of the cancer, but of complications of the Disease, both are very possible.
