Sir Rupert Nichols officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites will be in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Shongaloo, LA. Mr. Wise, a native and lifelong resident of this area, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2000 in Springhill after a long illness. He was a retired millwright with International Paper Company with 36 years service. Mr. Wise was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge No. 348 F&AM. He was a great-grandson of an early pioneer family James and Amelia Wise, who settled in Claiborne Parish in 1840. His parents were the late William A. and Lula Slack Wise and also preceded in death by seven brothers Fred, Vernon, Bryan, Austin, Roby, Cedric and Dalton Wise; and three sisters, Vera Wise Sanders, Catherine Wise Hill and Julia Wise. He is survived by one sister, Esther Sanders of Springhill, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Steven Wise, Danny Parker, Dub Miller, Bob Wise, Ed Hudson and Harild D.
