Hightower is dead. On Sunday, 21st ult., at 12 o'clock, he breathed his last, surrounded by his wife and children. Ever since we can remember the deceased forms a part of our recollections. He came to Homer to live when a young man; and nearly twenty- five years ago was joined in marriage to Miss Lizzie, a daughter of Z. Ragland, who in the early days of Homer, was one of its most prominent citizens. No man was better known in Claiborne parish than Thomas J. Hightower. He had been engaged in mercantile business almost from the foundation of the town. During all these years he lost no friends. All the traits of his character were of that nature that seemed for him the love of those who knew him. No man has gone to his grave who will be so generally regretted. While in Texas on a visit several months ago he was stricken with paralysis, from which he never recovered. Peace to his ashes.
