Prather, wife of John W. Prather, on the 19th of July 1888. She was born July 3rd, 1864, and was married July 14th, 1886, in Franklin Co., Texas, at her father's, (Mr. Warren Shelby,) and now, at the age of 24 years and 16 days, she left us to dwell where Sickness and sorrow, pain and death, Are felt and feared no more. Only two hastily passing years she lived with her devoted husband, now left alone--for only a few months ago her little babe preceded her to that land beyond, so fair and bright-land of bliss where is no night. But to the husband is the sweet promise, "When thou passest through the rivers I will be with thee, and through the deep waters they shall not overflow thee." Zudie (as we called her) made many friends in her new home which was proven by their kindness and attention shown her in her afflictions. She joined the Baptist church in early life and continued to wear the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit which in the sight of God is of great price. Many were the weary days of suffering she endured without a murmur-said she was willing to go when the Lord calls; and was conscious even to the last. Though many miles from her mother, sisters, and brothers, it was a comfort to know a dear father reached her and was with her in her last moments. The resurrection of the dead and the happy reunion of dear ones, never, never more to part, is a delightful thought-glorious fact. Sister, thou wast mild and lovely, Gentle as the summer breeze; Pleasant as the air of evening, When it floats among the trees. Peaceful be thy silent slumber; Peaceful in the grave so low; Thou no more wilt join our number; Thou no more our songs shalt know. Yet, again we hope to meet thee, When the day of life is fled; Then in Heaven with joy to greet thee, Where no farewell tear is shed. Mary A. P.
