He was taken to Harpers Ferry, then to Fort Delaware Prisoner of War Camp. He was released at the end of the war after swearing his allegiance to the USA. He returned to Concordia Parish. Captain Dale's lengthy service record can be verified by Andrew B. Booth's "Record of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers and Louisiana Confederate Commands" Additional Comments: Entered Confederate Military service June, 1861 at Camp Moore, La. He was a resident of Concordia Parish. He was wounded several times during the course of the war.
