Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced at a later date by Young's Funeral Home. LINDA MERRITT MCCLANAHAN Services for Linda Merritt McClanahan, 54, of Natchez, MS were held Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the Highland Baptist Church in Natchez. Reverend David McGuffie officiated. Burial followed at the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under direction of Laird Funeral Home. McClanahan died Monday, May 28 in Vidalia. She was born April 16, 1947 in Natchez to Vernon Felix and Ruth Dooley Meritt. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Candace Merritt Vargas, Shreveport; four grandsons, Jason Merritt, Storm Vargar, A. J. Vargas and Tanner Vargas; two sisters, Nelda Seyfarth, Natchez, MS; and Betty Holyfield, Brandon, MS; four brothers, Robert Merritt, Vernon Merritt, Carlton Merritt and James Merritt, all of Natchez, MS; and a number of nieces and nephews. ELVINA SMITH Services for Elvina Smith, 81, of Jonesville were held June 6, 2001 at Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville under the direction of Young's. The Revs. Junior Trisler and James Carson officiated. Burial followed at the Smith Family Cemetery in Jonesville under the direction of Young's. Smith died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. She was born August 25, 1919 at Churchpoint. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Thibodeaux and a granddaughter, Gloria Otwell. Survivors include a son, Marion Smith, Jonesville; a sister, Mary Zula Blalock, Garland, TX; a sister, Bernice Legier, Greenwell Springs; and a brother, Nolton Thibodeaux, Arlington, WA. Pallbearers were Bubba Blackwell, Jeff Otwell, Robert Prudhomme, Daren Smith, Marion Smith and Michael Smith. WILLIE JAMES WATSON Services for Willie James Watson, infant, of Jonesville were held Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Garden of Rest Cemetery in Clayton under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home. The Rev. Dave Mays officiated. Burial followed at Garden of Rest Cemetery under direction of Concordia. He died Sunday, June 3 at Riverland Medical Center. Watson was born Sunday, June 3, 2001 in Ferriday to Willie James Hatten and Irma Jean Watson. The infant was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Agnes Watson. Survivors include his parents Willie Hatten and Irma Watson, Jonesville and a number of uncles, aunts and other relatives. JAMES WILLIAMS SR. Services for James Williams Sr., 58, of Clayton, will be held Saturday, June 9, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church in Foules under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home. The Rev. L. B. Oliver will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at New Light Cemetery in Foules under direction of Concordia. Williams died Sunday, June 3 at Riverland Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1943 in Foules to Joseph Webb and Lelia Williams. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, Lelia King, Las Vegas, NV; two sons, James Williams, Homer, LA; Howard Williams, Clayton; three daughters, Rossano Williams, Ft. Worth, TX; Mary Williams and Lela Williams, Clayton; three brothers, Joseph Webb, Alexandria; Samuel King and Adrian King both of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Irma Webb, Verdia King and Jackie King all of Las Vegas, NV; two grand- children Natesha Harris, Clayton and Howard Johnson, Ferriday and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
