He was born November 2, 1919 at Locust Ridge Plantation in Tensas Parish. He was a retired planter and a member of Waterproof Episcopal Church. He attended LSU and was a member of DKE Fraternity, and served during World War II in the Army/Airforce as a pilot and instructor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Magruder D. Adams Sr. and Eleanor LeBlanc LaCour Adams. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lorraine G. Adams, Locust Ridge, two daughters, Lorraine LaCour Adams, Locust Ridge; Diane Parker and husband John, Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Dawn Fosbury and husband Justin, Austin, Texas; Adam Crow, San Antonio, Texas; Jason Parker and wife Marady, Forth Worth, Texas and one great grandchild, Noelle Fosbury, Austin, Texas. HOSEA FERGUSON Services for Hosea Ferguson, 82, of New Orleans and formerly of Ferriday were held Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Zion Baptist Church in Foules under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home. The Rev. L. B. Niver officiated. Burial followed at Zion Cemetery in Foules under direction of Richardson and Sims. Ferguson died Saturday, February 24, 2001 in New Orleans following a brief illness. DAVID ANTHONY GALLUP Services for David Anthony Gallup, 26, of Memphis, Tenn. were held Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Lismore Baptist Church under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The Rev. John Wills officiated. Burial followed at Oswalt Cemetery in Lismore under direction of Young's. Gallup died February 28, 2001 in Memphis, Tenn. He was born December 16, 1974 in Memphis, Tenn. to C. ROBERT LEE GREEN Services for Robert Lee Green, 73, of Vidalia were held Friday, March 2, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Junction City, Arkansas. Burial followed at Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City, Ark. Green died February 28, 2001 in Ferriday. Arrangements were handled by Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday. He was born October 17, 1927 in Junction City, Ark. to Joseph and Estelle Green. He was a retired Lt. Col of the U.S. Army Reserve and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vidalia. He was a graduate of Marion Military Institute in Alabama and Citadel Military College in South Carolina. He also served in the military from 1945 to 1976 and served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Henry Green. Survivors include his wife Johnnie Green, Vidalia; one son, Joseph Green and wife Carolyn, Baton Rouge; one daughter, Edna Green, Shreveport; one sister, Clara Thompson and one niece Cynthia Allgood both of Junction City, Ark. and two grandchildren, Jeffrey Green and Matthew Green. EMMA JONES Services for Emma Jones, 90, of San Diego, Calif. and formerly of Ferriday were held Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Mt. He retired from International Paper Company after 43 years of service. He was a former sports editor of The Natchez Times and The Natchez Democrat. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The American Heart Association. LAVINIA WARREN LEE Lavinia Warren Lee, wife of the Rev. Robert Lee Jr., of Clayton died March 21, 2001 at the age of 85. Funeral services were conducted March 24, 2001 at Saint Mark Baptist Church in Clayton where she was a member of the choir, assistant secretary and financial secretary. She and her husband were married for almost 64 years. They renewed their vows at the 50-year mark in 1987, at the 60-year mark in 1997 and again at 63 years in 2000. A native of Clayton, Mrs. Lee graduated valedictorian at the Chicot County Training School in 1934 at Dermott, Ark. In addition to her church work, she served on the board of the Council on Aging, Boy Scouts of America Troop 18 and president of the Home Mission Club in Clayton. Mrs. Lee was a retired nutritional aide for the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. She also was one of the first black election commissioners in Concordia Parish, serving in that capacity until last year. The Concordia Parish Police Jury adopted a resolution in her recognition and memory at its meeting Monday night. Survivors include her husband; four sons - Willis Allen Lee and wife Ruby, Robert Lee III and wife Mary, James Edward Lee and wife Frances, all of Clayton, and Curtis Gene Lee of Baton Rouge; one stepson, Roosevelt Lee and wife Nancy, Texarkana, Tex.; one brother, Alvin Warren, Clayton; one cousin, Edna Jackson, Stockton, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Eliza Lee King and Viola Lee Nelson, both of Clayton; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
