Bill Dennis officiating. Services were under the direction of Riser First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Bryce died Nov. 14, 2000. MULVIHILL Services for Denis A. Mulvihill, 68, of Natchez and Vidalia were held Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at Laird Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Laird. The Rev. Glenn Harrigill officiated. Burial followed at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird. Mulvihill died Sunday, November 19 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. He was born May 17, 1932 in Natchez to Denis Martin and Venita Tridle Mulvihill. He was a Korean War Veteran with the rank of Sergeant. He began working with the Vidalia Fire Department in 1965 and served 18 and a half years as Fire Captain and Emergency Medical Technician. He also served as a Special Deputy with the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Department for four years. He served as Concordia Parish Assistant Coroner for two years and as Coroner for two years. He was also employed with Concordia Ambulance Service for seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include five sons, Ronnie Mulvihill, White Hall, La.; Donnie Mulvihill, Ala.; Mike Mulvihill and Mark Mulvihill both of Washington State; Denis A. Mulvihill, Vidalia; two daughters, Denice Mulvihill, Jackson, Miss.; Candy Vines, Harrisonburg; two brothers, Louis Mulvihill, Roxie, Miss. and Thomas C. Mulvihill, Dallas, Texas. Memorials may be made to Riverside Baptist Church in Vidalia. ************************* 11/22/2000 RAYMOND THOMPSON PAUL Services for Raymond Thompson Paul, 73, were held Tuesday, November 14, 2000 at New Era Baptist Church under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The services were conducted by his nephew, Rev. Micky Bounds, Rev. Huey Tarpley and Rev. Alton Thompson. Burial followed at New Era Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Paul died Sunday, November 12 at the Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was born August 1, 1927 in New Era to James and Almeda Paul. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Air Force; he worked at the Paper Plant in Natchez for ten years and was a retired farmer. He was also deacon of New Era Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evie Bounds and a brother, William Paul. Survivors include his wife, Adella Sandidge Paul, Acme; his two daughters, Joyce Paul and Peggy Saizon and her husband Floyd all of Baton rouge; one brother, Clay Paul, Monterey; two sisters Eva Moreland and Myrt Lipsey both of Monterey; two grandchildren Elizabeth Young and Paige Saizon both of Baton Rouge and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The Rev. Larry Tucker officiated. Burial followed at Heard's Cemetery in Manifest. Alexander died Thursday, November 23 in Alexandria. She was born August 1, 1928, in Natchez to Mr. and Mrs. John and Jessie King. She was a retired deputy tax assessor. She is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers. Survivors include her husband, James K. Alexander, Manifest; son, Kenneth and wife Robin Alexander, Winnsboro; daughter, Jessica and husband Tommy Cater, Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren. ************************* 11/29/2000 BILLIE BOX Graveside services for Billie Box, 72, of Ferriday were held Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Richardson officiated. Burial followed at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Young's. Box died Saturday, November 25 at Riverland Medical Center. She was born July 22, 1928 in Tallulah. She was a waitress at Brocato's and Magnolia Restaurants for many years and was an Avon representative for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and was an active support of the Dixie Youth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norvill Box Sr.; one daughter, Letha Box; two brothers; two sisters and her parents. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Valentine, Vidalia; one son Norvill Box Jr., Houston, Texas; two sisters, Jennie James, Knoxville, Texas; Violet Mooney, Delhi; a special niece, Tammy Taylor; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. ************************* 11/29/2000 VIRGINIA MAY HAMMETT Services for Virginia May Hammett, 89, of Ferriday were held Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at Young's Funeral Home under the direction of Young's. The Rev. John Rowland and Richard Cullum officiated. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memoria Park in Natchez under the direction of Young's. Hammett died Monday, November 27 in Ferriday. She was born May 17, 1911 in Brookhaven, Miss. She was a homemaker and a member of Sevier Memorial Methodist Church in Ferriday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude F. Hammett, one brother, Brooks Warren; two sisters Alma Hammett and Mary Campbell. Survivors include three sons, Ray Hammett and his wife, Marie, Vidalia; Don Hammett and wife, Miriam, Ferriday; David Hammett, Destrahan, La; one daughter, Dorothy Borden and husband, Burt, Terre Haute, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Keown died Thursday, November 23, 2000 in Ferriday. She was born August 2, 1910. She was a housewife and a member of First Church of God in Portageville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Keown. Survivors include her daughter, Rena Keown Pitts, Ferriday; her son, Rex Keown, Portageville, Mo.; one sister, Ann Clatt, Coalinga, Calif.; one grandson, Ray Pitts, Ferriday and three great granddaughters, Elizabeth, Savannah and Victoria Pitts. ************************* 11/29/2000 GLINDA O'BRIANT MCCUNE Memorial services for Glinda O'Briant McCune, of Ruther Glen, Va. and formerly of Clayton will be held, Friday, December 1, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Centuries Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Shreveport. McCune died Thursday, November 9 at her residence in Ruther Glen, Va. She was born February 4, 1950. Clyde Ray Webber officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Centerville, Miss. under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. Dr. Polk died Monday, November 20 at Natchez Regional Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1923, in Centerville, Miss. to William Thomas Polk, MD and Margaret Victoria Wren Polk. He was a member and former Elder of Vidalia Presbyterian Church. Dr. Polk held memberships in Vidalia Chamber of Commerce, Homochitto Valley Medical Society, Mississippi State Medical Association and Louisiana State Coroner's Association for 31 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Ann Polk Goeken. The Rev. L. B. Oliver officiated. Burial followed at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Concordia. Schiele died Sunday, November 19 in Ferriday. He was born November 22, 1962 in Ferriday to Benjamin Schiele and Ophelia Smith Schiele. He was a construction foreman and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be Friday, December 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Young's. The Rev. Jimmy Mathis will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of Young's. Sibley died Wednesday, November 29 in Ferriday. She was born June 15, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska to Paul and Pearl Schleyer. She was a real estate broker, an interior designer and an instructor of American History. She was also a U.S. Customs to the Officers of Japanese Ground Defense Forces and was a hostess to the American Embassy in Tokoyo, Japan. She was a member of Ferriday First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Paul Schleyer. Survivors include her husband, Chuck Sibley, Ferriday; three sons, Ralph Hill, Duncanville, Texas; Richard Hill, Lafayette; Dan Sibley, Ruston; four daughters, Candi Robinson and Penny Venegas both of Arlington, Texas; Patricia Myers, Ferriday and Julia Wall, Columbia, S.C. Toliver died Sunday, November 26 at his residence in Sicily Island following a lengthy illness. White died Friday, November 24 at Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria. He was born July 4, 1910 in Mayna. He was retired from the Concordia Parish School System's Bus Division. He was a former police juryman and was a member of the First Church of God and the Guideon Society. He was past president of the Concordia Council on Aging. White was a resident of Ferriday and the Dunbarton community for 55 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Florence White; one daughter, Faye McGuffee; four brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Carine White, Ferriday; two sons, Clerel White Jr., Ferriday; Charlie White, Ferriday; one daughter, Odene Paul, Monterey; two step-daughters, Catherine Dodd, Ferriday and Barbara Polk, Jonesville; three brothers, Norman White, Alexandria; Owen White, Winnsboro and Lester White, Jonesville; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville under the direction of Young's. Willis died Sunday, November 26 at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe. He was born November 2, 1929 in Downsville, La. to Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Willis. He was an agriculture consultant. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Willis, two brothers, Dr. Jack Willis and Dr. Don Willis and his first wife, Dorris Womack Willis. Survivors include one son, Lee Willis and wife, Jennifer, Alexandria, six step-children, Kathy Knicely, Shreveport, Brenda McIntosh and LaJean Corbett, Ferriday, Whitney Ryan and Ashley Daily, Monroe and Gray Martin, Start, La. and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers were his nephews, Donnie Willis and Stacey Scallion; his son-in-laws, Perry Corbett, Mac McIntosh, Bill Ryan and Ron Daily.
