Max Rothschild, whose demise occurred suddenly at his home in Vidalia, at about one-thirty o'clock. Mr. Rothschild had been under the care of a physician for some time past, but it was not thought that his condition was so serious. He was one of the most beloved citizens of this section, being a member of the Concordia Parish School Board, the Ferriday Rotary Club, and was a leader in the business and social life of the parish. He was engaged in the wholesale grocery business with Mr. Sam Lyons, whose firm, Rothschild & Lyons, enjoyed a most extensive trade in this section. Besides this, he was interested in the Ferriday Electric Gin, and in many other business enterprises in Concordia Parish. His death will be mourned by everyone, for truly his charitable hand had helped many a person. He was also widely known in Natchez, having lived in this section for a number of years, during all of which time he has been actively engaged in planting, merchandising, and other progressive ventures. He was sixty-two years of age, and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Henrietta S. Rothschild, four brothers, Ben Rothschild of Concordia, Seigfred and Joseph Rothschild of Los Angeles, California and Isadore Rothschild, of New Orleans. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and four step-daughters, Misses Lucy, Jane, Juliette and Ruth Scott. Funeral services were held yesterday from Foster's Funeral Home, in Natchez, Mr. B. C. Geisenberger conducting the services. Campbell, Herman Kahn, Arnold Rosensweig, W. A. Beard and R. D. Calhoun. Mr. Rothschild filled a place in the civic and business life of the parish that will be hard to fill. He was known for his many acts of kindness and charity, having helped many a deserving person, all of whom will keenly feel his sad demise. He was a leader in the community, and his straightforwardness in all of his dealings was one of his most cherished traits.
