Joseph Kuehnle, rector of Trinity Epis- copal Church, of Natchez, officiating, last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Scott had been in poor health for some time, and recently was confined to his bed on account of what was thought to be a severe cold and light case of influenza. He was taken to the Chamberlain Rice Hospital in Natchez Saturday, by friends, and while his condition was known to be serious it was not thought that death was so near, and he passed away about eleven-thirty during the same night. He was born in Jefferson County, Miss., on April 26th, 1867, the son of the late Israel S. Scott and Mrs. Emily Turpin Scott, of Sicily Island, and for a number of years had made his home in Vidalia, where his friends were legion, everyone who knew him liking him on account of his genial smile and ever-present good humor. Besides his mother, who is now in her nineties, he is survived by two brothers, Messrs. Archie Scott of New Roads, La., and H. O. Scott, of Memphis, and a number of nephews and nieces, to all of whom the Sentinel extends its sympathies. Burial was in the Natchez City Cemetery, and the beautiful floral offerings attested the love and esteem which followed him. The following gentlemen served as pall bearers: Messrs. Joseph M. Reeves, W. A. Beard, B. F. Crooks, Mike Schuchs, Clyde Falkenheiner, and E. P. Campbell.
