SMITH, HERBERT 'NEW BABY'

   Services for Herbert "New Baby" Smith, 74, of Ferriday will be held Friday,
July 25, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Ferriday under the 
direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
   The Rev. Leon Smith, Sr. will officiate.
   Burial will follow at National Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of 
Concordia.
   He died July 20, 1997 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.
   Smith was born May 13, 1923 in Ferriday to Leon and Rose Hubbard Smith.  He
was retired from International Paper Co. in Natchez and a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II.
   He is preceded in death by a daughter, Gale Smith Vosley.
