All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** LUTHER ALVAH STUART In the Missouri-Pacific Hospital in St. Louis, at 5:55 o'clock p. m. on Wednesday, June 4th, 1930, Luther Alvah Stuart, age 56 years, 11 months and 21 days passed away. He was born in Bedford, Ind., his parents having moved to Oak Grove, Mo., while he was a small boy, there he received his education. In earlier years, Mr. Stuart worked for Chicago Alton R. R., Missouri-Kansas & Texas R. R., Rock Island R. R., and for the past 21 years he was employed by the Missouri-Pacific Lines, having moved from Arkansas City, Ark., to Ferriday in 1913, where he was located for 13 years, having moved to Antonia, La., in 1924. Mr. Stuart was in bad health for several months and Miss Grace Stuart was with him when he passed away. He was a member of the Christian church, also a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge. The remains arrived in Alexandria over the Missouri-Pacific at 11:00 o'clock Friday and was conveyed to the Mortuary Parlors of Hixon Brothers, later being shipped to his home in Antonia, La. It was later carried to the Baptist church at Pollock, where services were conducted by Rev. E. J. Vallery of Pineville, La., assisted by Rev. F. L. Shows of Pollock, La., with interment in the Pollock cemetery. Mr. Stuart is well known here and has a host of friends to mourn his loss. Deceased is survived by his wife and four children, two grandchildren and one brother: Mrs. Grace M. Stuart, of Antonia, La., Alvah E. Stuart of Ferriday, La., Ray A. Stuart of Pineville, La., Mrs. Charles Fey, New Orleans, La., grandson, Alvah Edward Stuart, Jr., grandson, Ferriday, La., Dallas Stuart, Antonia, La., brother.
