'DOVIE' Services for Verda D. "Dovie" Wilson, 75, of Vidalia were held Friday, July 18, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church in Ferriday under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Howington officiated. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. at Holloway Cemetery in Holloway, La. under the direction of Laird. She died Tuesday, July 15, 1997 at Riverland Medical Center. Wilson was born November 19, 1921 in Rapides Parish, the daughter of the late John and Martha Harris Wilson. She was retired from the Vidalia Clerk of Court Office. Wilson was a noted doll maker and collector and was known for her art work. She was the owner and operator of Dovie's Doll Boutique. She was a member of Ferriday First United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John Hartman; a brother, Sherman Wilson; and a sister, Odelia Worthy.
