However, the 1850 DeSoto Parish, LA census has Thomas born about 1812 in South Carolina. He is listed as a carpenter. Living with him is his fourteen year old son, George W. Lynch born about 1836 in Louisiana. The 1860 census has George born about 1828 in Alabama. Also, living with Thomas and George is Martha Lynch born about 1843 in Alabama. The 1860 Census records indicate that he was living with a lady, Mary Reeves, in De Soto Parish, Louisiana. In the 1860 census, Thomas Lynch's estate was valued at thirteen hundred eighty-nine dollars. It is not known if Mary Reeves was a friend of the family or only his employer. Mary was age 30 and had two children ages 3 and 5. She was evidently a large plantation owner, for her total estate was valued at twenty-two thousand dollars, in 1860. By 1880, 76 year old Thomas, was living with his granddaughter and son-in-law, Lula T. Lynch and John Robert Long in De Soto Parish, Louisiana. The Louisiana Land Patents list Thomas J. Lynch with a Cash Entry Sale on April 24, 1820 for 160 acres in Desoto Parish. Signed on June 10, 1850. It is on file in the Natchitoches land office. Document number 6402. The second listing for Thomas J. Lynch is for a Homestead Entry for 159.68 acres in Ouachita Parish on May 20, 1862. Signed on August 31, 1905. It is on file in the New Orleans land office. Document Number 12331; Application Number 20854. George W. LYNCH and Martha A. CLAY George was born about 1838. Martha was born abt 1843. They had two known children, Lula T. Lynch and Fernando Lynch. Lula was born about 1859. In 1860, George and his family were also living with Mary Reeves. After 1880, Fernando died in a drowning accident after going to live with his sister and her husband in DeSoto Parish. Lula married John Robert Long in 1877, probably in DeSoto Parish, LA. Lula T. LYNCH and John R. LONG Lula was born about 1859 and John was born January 20, 1849 in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. Lula and John were married in 1877, probably in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. A son, William Tommus Long was born May 12, 1878. He died shortly afterwards on July 28, 1879. A second son, Samuel Benton Long was born November 20, 1879. By 1880, Thomas and Fernando were living with Lula and John in Louisiana. A daughter, Sarah "Sally" Ann Long was born January 6, 1882. Sometime about 1883, John, Lula and the children moved to Wise County, Texas. Other children were born during the following years: Charlie Right Long born January 5, 1884; Jess Long born August 16, 1885; Hatte E. Long born May 5, 1887; Cassie Long born December 1, 1888. Also born were Roy E. Long, Elmer C. Long, I.R. Long, and possibly a daughter named Mattie Long, birth dates unknown. John and Lula probably moved to Wise County, Texas to be near John Long's family. Lula often went along with her father-in-law, Dr. John Henry Long, and help him to make his house calls in the area. Typhoid hit the area about 1888, five of John and Lula's children died in a short period of time. John Robert Long died in 1897. Sometime between 1889 and 1901, Lula moved west to the area of Bomartin, Texas and Shady in Baylor County, Texas. Lula met and married a man named George Parnell. He had previously been married and had nine children. George and Lula had only one child, Martin Anderson Parnell. Martin died at the age of five of lyphord pneumonia on October 19, 1907. George and Lula later separated. Lula later received a Civil War widow's pension of approximately fifteen dollars a month, George had served in the Union Army during the Civil War. In 1918, Lula lived in Ardmore, Oklahoma. During the 1930's, she lived near Davis, Oklahoma. Following a stroke in the summer of 1945, she went to live with her daughter, Cassie in Spur, Texas. Lula died March 26, 1946 in Spur, Texas. She was buried at Ardmore, Oklahoma in Rose Hill Cemetery.
