Wording on Historical marker:  (unveiled Oct. 29, 1988)

Keachi College   1856-1912
On this site stood a female college founded by Perry J. Backus of 
Goodhope (Keachi) Baptist Church on land donated by T. M. Gatlin.  
Became a male and female institution in 1879.  Served as hospital 
after battle of Mansfield in 1864.  Erected by Keachi Heritage 
Foundation, Inc., 1988.
