Camp Basset Arkanses Lafayte county August the 10 1862 Dear companion i this day take the Pleasure of writing you a few lins to let you know somthing about my helth I have had the measels but is geting beter I came into camp yesterday but I am very week yet but hoping when these few lins comes to hand that ___ will you and my derest litle children in good helth I would give all I am worth in this world if I could see you and my dear litle children once more but I dont know whether I ever will or not but i will live in hope of seeing you all again we live hard here we get nothing but corn bread and beef we git a litle bacon evry week I wrote you last week but i was sick and never rote much to you I want you to make me sone good warm close for we are going to mosuria and I will try to get them tha say that tha will send home for our winter clothing and i want you to send me a over shirt by the first chance you get Margret I want you to write to me as sone as you get this leter dont delay one hour we will stay here sometime yet and I want to here from you worse than any thing i ever wanted write without delay direct your leters to WO Fletcher in cear of captain PW Martin, company K Randels regement Arkanses, lafayet county lewisvill P O Dear Margret tel Oliver and litle sisey how i love them and kiss them for me if i live i will see you all again but _________ has know _______ the measels is kiling a great many of them we havent lost but two men out of our regement yet but burnets and ochiltrees regements is ding every day with the measels tel Elisabeth that Jerry is complaning I expect he has gt the measels Jack Pyle has got the measels Hamilton Jeter is not well yet but is geting beter I hope that I will get well but i am not out of danger yet I want you to take good care of my horse for i may need him to ____ ride again in the army take good care of your hogs for times is going to be harder than you ever saw them tis the opion of all the peple that this war want last much longer but i dont know whether it will or not but it dont look much lik stoping to me but it may I havent nothing more to write to you Only I want you to write to me as sone as you get this leter Write forthwith for I dont know when I will leave here but you can send me a leter before I leave so nothing more onley remain your efectionet husband until deth so fair well my love W O Fletcher
