From the Mansfield Enterrise Nov.26th. 1964 : Mrs. Lydia Vay 
Matthews, died Wednesday, Nov. 18th.1964, at the DeSoto General 
Hospital, at the age of 87. Funeral services were held Thursday, 
Nov. 19th. at 10 a.m. at Drewett's Memorial Chapel , with the 
Rev. Alfred Mitchell and the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. 
Interment was in Highland Cem. Mrs. Matthews is survived by three 
sons, Frank Matthews, H.A. Matthews, and John Matthews all of 
Mansfield,La. Two daughters, Mrs. Ike Smith of Benson,La. and 
Mrs. W.J. Heard of Logansport, La. , seven grandchildren and 
thirteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers were : Jerry Smith, 
James Roy Matthews, Ellis Spears, Francis Heard, Floyd Smith, 
and Robert Hargett. END Lydia was dau. of Dr. John B. Bixler 
of DeSoto Par.La.
