B. McMichael, who died at his home near Grand Cane, after an extended illness. He was a son of the late Dr. Samuel McMichael, who settled in what was then Natchitoches Parish, in the year 1833, within five miles of the spot where he spent a long life, and reared a large family. One of these children the present decedent, was 81 years of age at the time of his death, and hence, was perhaps one of the oldest citizens of DeSoto Parish. Mr. McMichael was married twice, and leaves four daughters by his first wife, three children by his second wife, who was a Miss Anderson of Stonewall. Mr. McMichael was a good citizen and respected by all who knew him, and we extend our condolence to all of his bereved relatives. He was a life-long member of the Smyrna Presbyterisn church. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Ross Gamble and Miss Margaret McMichael of Schreveport; Mrs. J. M. Brock and Mrs. G. A. Davis of Mansfield; Mrs. A. M. Vail of Hodge and Miss Nell McMichael and J. B. McMichael of Grand Cane. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 a. m. Saturday at the Smyrna church. Interment was in the family cemetery, three miles north of Smryna, in Schuler cemetery, under direction of the Drewett Funeral Home. Services were conducted by Rev. H. E. Bradshaw, former pastor at Smyrna, and Rev. McCullin of Grand Cane and Rev. Horton of Longstreet. Obituary paper unknown: J. B. M'Michael Grand Cane, Feb 2 (Special)- Death claimed one of Grand Cane's citizens when J. B. McMichael, 81 years and 11 months, died at his home here at 11:30 a.m. Friday, after a lingering illness. Mr. McMichael was the son of the late Dr. Samuel McMichael and Margaret J. McMichael and was a life-long member of the Smyrna Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs Ross Gamble and Miss Margaret McMichael of Shreveport; Mrs. J. M. Brock and Mrs. G. A. Davis of Mansfield; Mrs. A. M. Interment was in the family cemetery, three miles north of Smyrna. Obituary paper unknown: Pioneer Resident Dies At Grand Cane on Friday Morning Grand Cane, La., Feb 1,-- J. B. McMichael, 81, pioneer citizen of Grand Cane, died at his home here at 11 :30 o'clock Friday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Smyrna Presbyterian Church, of which he was a life-long member, at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment will be in the family cemetery three miles north of Smyrna. Surviving besides the widow are seven children, Mrs. Ross Gamble and Miss Margaret McMichael of Shreveport; Mrs. J. M. Brock and Mrs. G. A. Davis of Mansfield; Mrs. A. M. Vail, Hodge; Miss Nell McMichael and J. B. McMichael, Jr., of Grand Cane; a brother, J. C. McMichael of Grand Cane, and one grandchild, Miss Eloise Brock, of Mansfield. Mr. McMichael was the son of the late Dr. Samuel McMichael and Margaret J. McMichael.
