SCOTT Robert H. Scott died at his home in Kingston, La. on Saturday October 24, 1931. He was 74 years of age, and closed his long career with a record that is excelled by few men, as he was on the the very best citizens of which DeSoto could boast. He leaves a wife, who was Miss Corinne Beard, the only daughter of Colonel James Hamilton Beard, the outstanding hero of the battle of Mansfield, where he led the Crescent regiment, of which he was Colonel, when it charged across an open space of 700 yards, breaking through the Federal line, turning their flank, and assuring victory to the Confederate cause. The decedent is survived by two sons, Rochelle, T. Scott of Shreveport, and Rembert B. Scott of Kingston: Three grandsons: Two brothers, Maxcy Gregg Scott of Colorado and Edward L. Scott of Baton Rouge: Three sisters, Mrs. G. W. Sample and Mrs. W. P. Courtney of Grane Cane, and Mrs. O. B. Patterson of Baton Rouge. The pall-bearers were J. H. Riggs, James E. Scott, Pendleton Courtney, Will Sample, L. T. Lancaster, and I. W. Pickens. Mrs. Scott was a superb gentleman in every sense of the word, who discharged his every duty, both in public and private life, sincerely and conscientiously.
