XXIV, No 1 ( Winter 1983), pp. 70-84, contains a paper by Albert Tate, Jr., "Spanish Census of the Baton Rouge District for 1786." In addition to containing the complete census, which lists the heads of households and then by numbers the age and gender composition of each household, the paper includes an appendix compiling family information from contemporaneous church and Spanish civil records. (Garrett, Jr.) Rapelje David Ross Nicholas Schallion (Scallan) Benjamin Smith Samuel Steir (Steer) David William(s) There is included an additional annotation on the Russ family, children of Ezechias who had come to British West Florida in 1772, who were living in the vicinity although not listed on the census.
