To the Honorable, the Judge of the Parish Court of the Parish of East Baton
Rouge, State of Louisiana

The petition of William Cook, a resident of said parish, respectfully
represents that he was born in England, and came to the United States in the
year 1858, and has constantly resided therein ever since.  That at the time of
his arrival he was under eighteen years of age.  That for more than three
years last past it has been his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the
United States. That he now desires to be naturalized.
Wherefore he prays that upon complying with the requirements of the law, he be
decreed a Citizen of the United States, and admitted to the rights and
privileges thereof for general relief.

William Cook, being duly sworn in open Court deposes and says: I am a native
of England, came to the United States in the year 1858, being then under the
age of eighteen years, and have constantly resided therein up to the present
time.  During that time I have behaved as a man of good moral character,
attached to the constitiution of the United States, and well disposed to the
happiness and good order of the same.  That the past three years it has been
bonafide my intention to become a citizen of the United States.  That I do
hereby absolutely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any
foreign Prince, Potentate, State or sovereignty whatever, and particularly all
allegiance to Victoria, Queen of the United Kindoms of Great Britain &
Ireland, of whom I was late a subject, and that I will support the
constitution of the United States. So help me God.  (Signed) William Cook

Be it remembered that on the ninth day of October A.D. 1874, William Cook
formerly a subject of the United Kingdoms of Great Britain & Ireland, having
appeared in open Court, and made the necessary proof, and taken the required
oath to entitle him to be naturalized as a citizen of the United States:  It
is therefore ordered, abridged and decreed that said William Cook be, and he
is hereby declared a Citizen of the United States, and entitled to all the
rights and privileges of the same.  Done and signed in open Court this 9th day
of October A.D. 1874
