Died Febraury 2, 1813; Widow – Marie Guidry (probably her maiden name); Inventory listed and signed by L. Dubreriel and Thomas Stanard. Notes due to Etienan Foret, Joseph Apper, Jean Baptiste Hebert. Probate 59, No. 1 O.S., May 13, 1813, Bundle 2. CAMPBELL, DANIEL. Native of Kilcarnel, County of Donegal, Ireland; Occupation – carpenter; Drowned on June 29, 1812 when the pirogue in which he and James McGowan were traveling, collided with a military barge on the Mississippi River. Terence O’Reilly appointed administrator of vacant estate on July 4, 1812; seven years later, July 26, 1819, John Campbell was given a power of attorney and presented a petition to the Judge stating that he was a brother of Daniel Campbell and claimed his estate for the Irish heirs. They were: (1) Joseph Campbell of Tullydonald, Ireland, a brother; (2) Isabella Ewing, sister; (3) Sister-in-law, _______, widow of K. M. Campbell; (4) John Ellison of Kern and his wife, Elizabeth Campbell; (5) Thomas Love, brother-in-law, of Breachy and Ann Campbell, his wife; (6) James Williams, brother-in-law and Jane Mary Campbell, his wife. They are all of County Donegal. In addition to the above are two sisters not named who live in Scotland and the children of a deceased brother, Thomas Brown and Thomas Davenport. The American Consulate at Londonderry signed the petition presented at Baton Rouge. Estate settled Nov. 1819 when Judge Tessier paid the sum of $139 to the heirs. Probate 47, No. 1 O.S., filed April 13, 1813. Bundle 2. EVANS, BETSY. Died about February, 1813 leaving infant son. Her husband, John Evans of the Creek Nation placed her in care of Henry Long for the trip to Baton Rouge. On April 1, 1813 the court appoints James Jones tutor to John Evans, Jr. who is 2 months old. James Jones states that “Betsy Parmer Evans is his sister by the mother Ledi.” On May 21, 1813, John Evans appears and claims i nfant son and says James Jones has handled Betsy’s estate to his entire satisfaction. Probate 57, No. 1 O.S., Bundle 2, filed March 10, 1813. HAWES, EDMOND. Died May 15, 1813; widow, Sarah Reeves Hawes, eight children: (1) William, age 19; (2) Jane, age 15; (3) John, age 13; (4) David, age 11; (5) Betsy, age 10; (6) Evan, age 8; (7) Nancy, age 6; (8) James, age 2. Inventory made by John McArthur, William Corner, Jacob Chambers, Abiel Draughan, Sarah Hawes and William Hawes. On August 12, 1818, Michael Chambers, husband of Janes Hawes, petitions the court for a family meeting to be composed of Michael Chambers, Abiel Draughan, John McArthur, William Corner, Westley Chambers (curator) and Peter Michel. No relationship given. Probate 61, No. 1 O.S., Bundle 2, filed June 25, 1813. MARKMART, GEORGE. Petition of Charles Duval on December 4, 1813 states that George Markmart died intestate in East Baton Rouge with no heirs in the state. He prays for administration of the vacant estate.
